Dear Les,
It is a rare experience in life to find someone who truly measures up to an ideal. What qualities would an ideal builder have?
He would have a commitment to excellence, to building the best possible house with the resources available. He would find the best trades, who take pride in doing fine work. He would be fair and honest in costing and budgeting. He would have a great attention to detail and always strive for perfection, never cutting corners or settling for second best. He would rise to any challenge his client gave him. He would go the extra mile, even surpassing his client’s expectations.
As a designer, he would bring artistic and technical talents to produce something that is as much a pleasure to look at as to live in.
But first and foremost, he would have as his overriding principle, a desire to serve his clients.
You have been all these things to us and more. You have in fact shown yourself to be an ideal builder.
And what better project for an ideal builder, than building an ideal home? You have risen to a great challenge, and created something great in the process: Alberta’s first Sthapatya Vedic home, an ideal environment for the growth, evolution, well-being and happiness of its occupants. We are sure that simply to participate in such a laudable goal must have given you considerable satisfaction as a builder.
We cannot imagine anyone else having the conscientiousness, tenacity and steadfastness that you have shown during this project. And you have created such a measure of confidence and trust in us that, in an undertaking where precision is critical, we have not checked a single measurement.
We are not canonizing you! We’re simply recognizing your many fine professional and personal qualities that have made dealing with you such a pleasure over the life of the project.
It is with that same pleasure that we are extending to you the enclosed gift. It is not compensation for all the extra effort you have put in (we know you would never accept such compensation anyway). It is simply a measure of our gratitude for all you have given us. Thank you for accepting it and for creating something so wonderful.
With fond regards,
Richard & Rhonda D
